Labor Day is a national holiday first noted in the late 1800s to recognize “the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States.” Held on the first Monday of September, Labor Day is a time to celebrate the hard-working people that keep the country running.
Fast-forward to modern days and this holiday gives many people a three-day weekend to relax away from work. Since it’s held at the end of summer, you’ll find a lot of people enjoying their extra day in the sun. Labor day barbecues, picnics, and trips to the beach are common.
