So you’ve booked your very first escape room experience and the excitement is building. Then you think to yourself, what should I wear to play an escape room?
Much like when you dress for a fun-packed day at a theme park, comfort and practicality should be your top priority! There are no catwalks in an escape room, and heels are a definite no-go, so you’ll want to keep it casual as you keep your cool, on your conundrum-filled countdown.
Outfit Ready?
Now it’s time to book your game! Make sure you race to escape in your comfiest shoes, when you take your pick from our four epic adventures.
To dress for success at your escape room experience, you’ll want to wear clothes that won’t cause discomfort or restrict your movement. Embark on your adventure worry-free, with breathable and lightweight clothing worn in layers, allowing you to adapt to shifting temperatures as required. You may find your body heat increasing as the intensity of the game gets your adrenaline pumping. Alternatively, the air conditioning sometimes makes things a little chilly, so to ensure you’re covered (literally) in all eventualities, bring a light jacket or sweater just in case!
Here are our tips, from head to toe, so deciding what to wear no longer needs to be puzzling!
Get A-Head
If you think you might have trouble seeing those close up clues clearly or finding things far away, make sure you bring your glasses! Escape rooms are brimming with details ready to be discovered upon every surface, so you’ll need sharp eyes to seek out the necessary clues. Additionally, for those with long hair, we recommend you tie it back. That way you’ll avoid it getting in the way when you’re trying to solve a puzzle.
The Perfect Fit
Got a shirt made of an irritatingly itchy fabric, or one that has a scratchy tag or stitching on the inside? When you’re in the zone on your medieval mission in A Knight To Escape, the last thing you want is distraction in the form of that annoying little label. So, wear a shirt that is soft and breathable and you’ll find the key to comfort, as well as that in-game padlock!

Be A Smarty Pants
In an escape room, you’re bound to be ducking and diving through doors and passageways that may require you to crawl. For this reason, we recommend flexible pants that allow you to get through all the twists and turns of your adventure, without feeling restricted…or worse, fear of embarrassment from a wardrobe malfunction! You may want to steer clear of dresses and skirts…too short and bending down to retrieve a clue might leave you in a compromising position, too long and it might get caught on a prop or snagged on part of the set. Whether or not you wear your lucky underpants is up to you.
Sole Mates
Running out of time to get a fitting escape room outfit together? When you’re summoned by the Greek gods on a quest to complete a series of tricky challenges, you don’t want one of those challenges to be overcoming blisters on the backs of your heels. It’s imperative that you make sure you wear a practical pair of shoes that are tried and true favorites, rather than a brand new pair that still need wearing in. For the clumsier folks (myself included), you may also want to avoid open toe sandals, in case you accidentally drop a prop on your foot! Ouch!
Fitting The Theme
Heard of Disney-bounding? What about taking a twist on the idea by twinning with the theme of the game you are playing? We won’t argue if you want to don a top hat like evil illusionist Victor Strange, in our magic-filled mystery Fright Before Your Eyes. Or if you want to look the part while you’re deciphering details in Sherlock Studies, we even have a deerstalker cap ready and waiting on the coat rack, if that’s more your style!
