The Time Is Up Already?
You’ve been running around the room frantically, puzzle solving like your life depends on it, and just like that it’s all over. The countdown clock has reached zero and you’ve escaped. Phew. With your heart still racing and your adrenaline still pumping, you’re thinking to yourself…the time is already up?! The majority of escape room venues run 60 minute games, and in the heat of the moment, that hour-long game feels substantially shorter. As the old adage says, time flies when you’re having fun!
That’s why at The Escape Effect we did things differently. As escape room enthusiasts ourselves, we often played games elsewhere and were left wanting more. So, when we began designing and creating our own rooms, we did just that. Our escape games are all feature-length adventures, ranging from 75 minutes, to 90 minutes, all the way up to an epic 120 minutes. Oh, and for those who don’t want to stop after two hours, we have an overnight experience where you can puzzle your heart out, with four whole hours of non-stop puzzle solving across any of our games.
How Did That Puzzle Work?
You’ve been so laser focused on reaching the end goal, that sometimes you can solve a part of a puzzle without even realizing. Or, perhaps you just made a lucky guess and the padlock broke free. Maybe, just maybe, you brute forced the code…shakes head in disapproval…although we have all done it in desperation at least once!
When you’ve finally escaped, often you’ll look back and wonder what the solution actually was. When your host comes to greet you, and of course congratulate you on your success, it’s a great time to ask all those questions! Our friendly hosts are always happy to help fill you in on all the parts that are a little fuzzy in your mind! You’ll leave feeling accomplished, and without any of the missing pieces that’ll keep you up at night!
Where Was That?
You’re talking through the experience with your fellow team-mates, and suddenly one of them mentions something you don’t remember. What, you didn’t see that giant rainbow octopus in the game?! You start feeling like you missed out on a whole bunch of stuff, and have so many questions for your friends about what everyone saw during the game.
When you’re delegating tasks, or areas to explore, often the game moves on so fast that you don’t even see what the other players are doing. All you know is that you’re working together towards a common goal, but not everyone in the team will see or complete every single step in order to get there, especially in a non-linear game. Don’t worry, instead of feeling disappointed you missed out, use this as a way to relive the game with your group, discussing in detail what you found and figured out to the others, and hearing your friends retell their version of events too.
When Can I Play Another One?
Once you’ve caught your breath, you’ll exit your game feeling like a puzzle-solving superhero! Nothing beats that satisfying feeling of taking on an escape room, and winning! You’ll likely be craving more, and perhaps feel the beginnings of an escape room addiction!
