It’s our favorite time of year – two months of non-stop holidays! It’s a time for being thankful, showing others how much you care, and even a chance to think about the future. It’s a time to find out which members of your friend group blast Mariah Carey all month long and which ones have taste don’t.

Let’s find you something festive and fun to do right here in Orlando!

Theme Parks

Orlando is no stranger to theme parks. As you might expect, the big theme parks around Orlando go BIG on decorations, shows, and food throughout the holidays. Here’s a quick rundown on what we’re most excited about this year!

Universal’s Grinchmas

How The Grinch Stole Christmas! is one of those timeless tales that reminds all of us that even the darkest of hearts can be filled with the holiday spirit. Universal Studios has embraced this story and created an entire holiday event for it, Grinchmas.

Universal has been doing Grinchmas in Seuss Landing since 2000. If you’re a fan of the book (or the movie), you’ll love walking through Who-ville, experiencing the music and fun of the Who-liday Spectacular. You can even get pictures of the Grinch himself.

In addition to the Grinch-themed festivities, you can also find a special Hogwarts Castle light show in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, and a Christmas parade in Universal Studios.

This event runs from November 17 through January 1.

SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration

SeaWorld’ turns into a Winter Wonderland during the Christmas season. Seasonal events include limited-time holiday foods, the Sesame Street Christmas parade, and a unique ice skating show.

Different areas of the park host various holiday themes. One side of the park has Rudolph’s Christmastown where you can take pictures of holiday characters. In another area, you’ll find a Santa meet-and-greet

Our particular favorite is the Sea Of Trees, a surreal display of Xmas trees floating on SeaWorld’s lake. We’ve done this ourselves years ago, and we remember the walk across the bridge that visits three sides of the lake to be truly awe-inspiring.

The event runs on select nights between November 10 through January 2.

Disney’s Very Merriest After Hours

Disney has a lot going on in all of their parks, which are completely decked out in holiday decor, but their biggest event by far is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!

This Christmas party features a holiday-themed parade, character meet-and-greets, and lots of food to enjoy during your trip to the park. At the end of the night, you’ll get to see an amazing display in the sky from Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks!

The event runs on select nights between November 9 and December 22.

Specialty Attractions

Orlando is more than theme parks. It’s filled with local attractions big and small that offer some of the most unique and fantastic fun you’ll find anywhere in the world. If you’re looking for more than just theme parks, you can rent a car or call an Uber to get to these places. Here’s what we think you need to see this holiday.

The Escape Effect’s A Knight To Escape

For the escape room lover in your family, you’ll make him/her feel like royalty for A Knight To Escape! The game runs at two hours in length, which is twice the length of your typical escape room. On top of that, your team will split as heroes or prisoners in a quest to save or be saved.

The Escape Effect also offers other escape rooms for puzzle lovers and mystery buffs. If you’re looking to start a new family tradition, you may want to consider The Escape Effect. In fact, for larger families, we offer options where the whole venue can be reserved.

This experience is available all year.

Gaylord Palm’s ICE Museum

For years, Gaylord Palm’s has been offering ICE, a museum and walkthrough with ice sculptures and interactive exhibits. This year’s exhibit is based on the classic story, How The Grinch Stole Christmas!

This 20,000 square foot exhibit is kept at a chilly 9°F so that the displays can stay properly frozen. Bright blue coats are provided for the visitors, so you won’t freeze as you explore. There are some amazing Grinch sculptures and an ice Who-ville on display, in addition to the interactive sets. Come see Orlando’s own winter wonderland!

The event runs from November 18 through January 1.

This year, Leu Gardens has turned their gardens into a magnificent maze of lights for their Dazzling Nights. Guests can enjoy the gardens and interactive elements of this vibrant display.

This year’s event includes a night-time light show with 100, 10′ tall beacons, a massive tree decked out in gold sequins, and even interactive light displays. A walk through the an illuminated wonderland sounds like a beautiful way to end a night. The display of lights will make a holiday feel truly magical.
