It’s our favorite time of year – two months of non-stop holidays! It’s a time for being thankful, showing others how much you care, and even a chance to think about the future. But before we go any further, you’ll NEED to listen to this.

Now that you’re in the holiday spirit, let’s find you something to do right here in Orlando!

Theme Parks

Orlando is no stranger to theme parks. As you might expect, the big theme parks around Orlando go BIG on decorations, shows, and food throughout the holidays. Here’s a quick rundown on what we’re most excited about this year!

Universal’s Grinchmas

How The Grinch Stole Christmas! is one of those timeless tales that reminds all of us how even those with the darkest of hearts can be filled with the holiday spirit.

Universal has been doing Grinchmas in Seuss Landing since 2000. If you’re a fan of the book (or the movie), you’ll love walking through Who-ville, experiencing the music and fun of the Who-liday Spectacular. You can even get pictures of the Grinch himself.

SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration

SeaWorld turns into a Winter Wonderland including a unique ice skating show. And, if you’re looking for more traditional Santa photos, you’ll find him in the Wild Arctic section of the park. You might even come across Rudolph for photos too.

Our particular favorite is the Sea Of Trees, a display of Xmas trees surreally floating on SeaWorld’s lake. We’ve done this ourselves years ago, and we remember the walk across the bridge that visits three sides of the lake to be truly awe-inspiring.

Disney’s Very Merriest After Hours

Disney is offering Very Merriest After Hours this year in place of the pre-pandemic Very Merry Xmas Party. Oddly, both events feel like they are offering similar features, but maybe this year’s offering features a new parade.

The last time that we visited, we remember the hot cocoa and cookies. With the pandemic still active, it’s unclear if Disney will be offering the free concessions again.

Specialty Attractions

Orlando is more than theme parks. It’s filled with local attractions big and small that offer some of the most unique and fantastic fun you’ll find anywhere in the world, yet alone in Orlando. If you’re not tethered to a theme park, rent a car or call an Uber to get to these places. Here’s what we think you need to see this holiday.

The Escape Effect’s A Knight To Escape

For the escape room lover in your family, you’ll make him/her feel like royalty for A Knight To Escape! The game runs at two hours in length, which is twice the length of your typical escape room. On top of that, your team will split as heroes or prisoners in a quest to save or be saved.

The Escape Effect also offers other escape rooms for puzzle lovers and mystery buffs. If you’re looking to start a new family tradition, you may want to consider The Escape Effect. In fact, for larger families, we offer options where the whole venue can be reserved.

Gaylord Palm’s Christmas Offerings

For years, Gaylord Palm’s has been offering ICE, which was a museum/walkthrough of sorts in with ice sculptures and a few interactive exhibits. Of course, there were frigid temperatures and warm parkas – something you don’t normally get in Florida.

However, for this year, it looks like Gaylord Palms has replaced ICE in favor of several other individually-ticketed attractions. These attractions still have our interest piqued – especially, the “Snowball Build and Blast” attraction, which sounds like… a blast! Specifically, you get to make snowballs and throw them at targets!

Leu Garden’s Dazzling Nights

This year, Leu Gardens has turned their gardens into a magnificent maze of lights for their Dazzling Nights. Guests can enjoy the gardens and interactive elements of this vibrant display.

An evening walk through the an illuminated wonderland sounds like a beautiful way to end a night. The display of lights will make a holiday feel truly magical.
