If you’re thinking of visiting an escape room soon, be sure to consider all options that the Orlando area has to offer. In this article, we’ll discuss the differences between The Escape Effect and Doldricks so that you can make a better-informed decision when reserving your next experience.
Doldricks offers escape rooms that are a mix of sizes. Graveyard Games and Redemption would work well for couples or trios. On the other end of the spectrum, Doldricks advertises Spoopy as 2-12 players, but one reviewer recommends 4-6 players instead.
The Escape Effect offers escape rooms of all different sizes too. At Odds With The Gods can comfortably work well with up to ten players especially because the escape room is relatively large and there’s plenty of challenges that players can attempt simultaneously. But if your team is smaller, you might appreciate a room like Fright Before Your Eyes, which can work well with up to six players.
Doldricks charges $33.99 for their 60-minute experiences and $39.99 for their 75-minute experience. They are one of the cheaper experiences around the Orlando area.
The Escape Effect charges between $44.95 and $69.95 for experiences ranging between 75 minutes and 2 hours based on the day of the week and the game in question.
If you consider the increases in game length (mentioned below) and do the math, you’ll understand that you actually pay less per minute at The Escape Effect.
At Doldricks, they offer difficulty ratings for each of their games. So, if you are a first-timer, you might choose to play the lower-rated Graveyard Games (5) instead of the higher-rated Red Sled Redemption (9) escape room.
At The Escape Effect, we do use difficulty ratings and we also have the ability to adjust the game’s challenge level based on your team’s experience. If you prefer that, please let your host know in advance.
Oh, and if you have kids, let your host know that too so we can make the appropriate adjustments! We’ve done things in the past like keeping the door open or turning up the lighting to make whomever requests it more comfortable.
If you went to a movie and it was over in 60 minutes, would you be satisfied?
Doldricks offers 3 escape rooms at 60 minutes (two of those used to be 45 minutes) and another that was raised to 75 minutes (from 60 minutes). We aren’t certain if content was added to these games when their time limits and corresponding pricing were increased.
The Escape Effect is the first to introduce escape rooms longer than 60 minutes. In fact, A Knight To Escape runs a full two hours – it’s one of only two 2-hour escape rooms in the entire country (the other is in California)! Additionally, our classic At Odds With The Gods and the anything-but-classic Fright Before Your Eyes run 90 minutes each!
On a related note, did you know that all time limits at The Escape Effect are based on significant testing done with focus groups on each and every escape room before being released to the general public?
Have you been convinced?
Of course, we hope you’ll select The Escape Effect for your next escape room. But even if you choose to play at Doldricks this time, we sincerely hope you enjoy yourselves. Escape rooms can be so much fun and after you’re done playing there, we hope you’ll be curious what’s behind door #2…
