Introduction

If you’re thinking of visiting an escape room soon, be sure to consider all the options Orlando has to offer.  In this article, we’ll discuss the differences between The Escape Effect and Lockbusters Escape Game so that you can make a better-informed decision when reserving your next experience.

What makes Escape Effect different from Lockbusters Escape Game? Size Matters.

Lockbusters Escape Game features rooms that are impressive in size and stature.  They typically fill their rooms with large props and break up their games into smaller subrooms.

The Escape Effect offers escape rooms of all different sizes.  In contrast, the first subroom in all of our games is larger with respect to the maximum number of players recommended.  As such, we can cater excellently with games like At Odds With The Gods that comfortably work well with up to ten players.

Nobody Sits On The Sidelines.

Escape rooms can be described as “linear” or “non-linear”.  A linear game means that players must solve puzzle A before solving puzzle B.  A non-linear game means that puzzles A and B can be solved simultaneously.

As far as we can tell, most of Lockbusters’ games are linear.  At The Escape Effect, we have a mix and typically recommend non-linear games to larger groups because it means that everyone has something to do at the same time.

What makes Escape Effect different from Lockbusters Escape Game? Better Value.

Lockbusters Escape Game charges $39.99 for their 60-minute experiences.

The Escape Effect charges between $44.95 and $69.95 based on peak times and the duration of the escape room, which ranges from 75 minutes to 2 hours. If you bring the kids, you’ll enjoy special child rates too.

If you do the math, you’ll understand that you can pay less per hour at The Escape Effect. We also have a ton of everyday offers to help you get the best value!

What makes Escape Effect different from Lockbusters Escape Game? Tailored To You.

At Lockbusters Escape Game, they offer difficulty ratings for each of their games.  So, if you are a first-timer, you might choose to play the lower-rated Collector (7/10) instead of the higher-rated Bank Heist or Chopper Down (9/10) escape rooms.

At The Escape Effect, we do use difficulty ratings and we also have the ability to adjust the game’s challenge level based on your team’s experience. If you prefer that, please let your host know in advance.

Oh, and if you have kids, let your host know that too so we can make the appropriate adjustments! We’ve done things in the past like keeping the door open or turning up the lighting to make whomever requests it more comfortable.

What makes Escape Effect different from Lockbusters Escape Game? Longer Games.

If you went to a movie and it was over in 60 minutes, would you be satisfied?

Lockbusters Escape Game offers five of the ubiquitous 60-minute escape room.

The Escape Effect is the first to introduce escape rooms longer than 60 minutes.  In fact, A Knight To Escape runs a full two hours – it’s one of only two 2-hour escape rooms in the entire country! Additionally, our classic At Odds With The Gods and the anything-but-classic Fright Before Your Eyes run 90 minutes each!

What makes Escape Effect different from Lockbusters Escape Game? Minimums Required.

Lockbusters Escape Game requires that players pay for a minimum of 3 tickets (4 for Bank Heist) even if less than that number will actually participate.  This practice has become commonplace for several escape room venues within Orlando, typically with varying restrictions.

At The Escape Effect, we keep with 2-player minimums, allow single players on occasion, and only require four players for A Knight To Escape because the puzzles physically require it.
