If you’re thinking of visiting an escape room soon, be sure to consider all the options Orlando has to offer.  In this article, we’ll discuss the differences between The Escape Effect and America’s Escape Game so that you can make a better-informed decision when reserving your next experience.

What makes Escape Effect different? Better Value.

America’s Escape Game charges $37.99 for the 60-minute experiences and $47.99 for their 75-minute game.

The Escape Effect charges between $44.95 and $69.95 based on peak times and the duration of the escape room, which ranges from 75 minutes to 2 hours. If you bring the kids, you’ll enjoy special child rates too.

If you do the math, you’ll understand that you can pay less per hour at The Escape Effect. We also have a ton of everyday offers to help you get the best value!

What makes Escape Effect different from Americas Escape Game? All The Help You Want.

In years past, many escape rooms employed a video game-inspired “3 hints and done” rule. America’s Escape Game was one of these venues that counted hints.  Nowadays, we think if you ask your escape artist (the gamemaster) for unlimited help, they’ll oblige.

When The Escape Effect opened in 2017, we changed up the hint system in a way that offered teams either unlimited or timed hints and no penalties. We were among the first to recognize that guests play escape rooms for different reasons.

Unique Gameplay.

America’s Escape Game’s rooms largely revolve around solving puzzles and opening word and number combination padlocks, which is typically referred to as a classic escape room experience. Their games all include 3-4 subrooms to explore. One of their games, Contract, derails from traditional gameflow a bit with an optional component.

The Escape Effect’s rooms will also keep players guessing.  Each game is a different size, has a different number of subrooms, and sport different gameflows.  In fact, one guest referred to Fright Before Your Eyes as part escape room, part Luigi’s Mansion, which is unheard of! And for A Knight To Escape, you’ll never find another escape room that makes the team depend on each other to such a degree.

What makes Escape Effect different from Americas Escape Game? Longer Games.

If you went to a movie and it was over in 60 minutes, would you be satisfied?

America’s Escape Game has five games at 60 minutes and one at 75 minutes.

The Escape Effect was the first to introduce escape rooms longer than 60 minutes.  In fact, A Knight To Escape runs a full two hours – it’s one of only two 2-hour escape rooms in the entire country! Additionally, our classic At Odds With The Gods and the anything-but-classic Fright Before Your Eyes run 90 minutes each!

What makes Escape Effect different from Americas Escape Game? Brand New Themes.

As you play more and more escape rooms, you’re bound to see themes repeat themselves – “aliens”, “mad scientists”, “pirates”, and more.

If you’re looking for a fresh theme, you can try America’s Escape Game’s Contract or Revenge Of The Tomb, which places you in an Egyptian setting.

At The Escape Effect, you’ll be able to choose from four awesome themes, including a Greek temple or a 1920s Theatre.

What makes Escape Effect different from Americas Escape Game? No Minimums Required.

The regularly accepted minimum for escape rooms is typically advertised as two players.

America’s Escape Game requires that players pay for a minimum of four tickets on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays even if less than four players will actually participate.  This practice has become commonplace for several escape room venues within Orlando, typically with varying restrictions.

At The Escape Effect, we keep with 2-player minimums, allow single players on occasion, and only require four players for A Knight To Escape because the puzzles physically require it.

Have you been convinced?

Of course, we hope you’ll select The Escape Effect for your next escape room.  But even if you choose to play at America’s Escape Game this time, we sincerely hope you enjoy yourselves.  Escape rooms can be so much fun and after you’re done playing there, we hope you’ll be curious what’s behind door #2…
