SeaWorld Orlando doesn’t need an icebreaker after being voted Best Theme Park In Florida Three Years In a Row. Since late last year, we’ve been anticipating Penguin Trek, the newest roller coaster being added to their repertoire. It was slated for Spring 2024. The time is finally here, and so we eagerly await its opening! In the meantime, check out the on-ride POV animation below.

Want something to do in Orlando while you wait for Penguin Trek?

This Cool Penguin Coaster Is A Chill Brrr’d

Last year we saw SeaWorld Orlando open Pipeline: The Surf Coaster, a high-thrill ride with a gnarly-looking train. Penguin Trek is looking to be a polar shift from radical thrills to exciting, family fun in a snowmobile flurry through Antartica. This launch coaster is a product of the legendary Bolliger & Mabillard. Not only have B&M made some of SeaWorld’s most popular coasters, but they have also claim to some of the best roller coasters in the US, including giga coaster Fury 325!

Penguin Trek is being built in the place where Antartica: Empire of the Penguin stood, before its unfortunate closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new ride features slippery speeds of up to 43 mph along 3,020 feet of track! There are two LSM launches (which is a type of electro-magnetic propulsion). With a height requirement of only 42 inches (3.5 feet), families of all ages can enjoy this chilly expedition together!

How Does Penguin Trek Ride? Is This Roller Coaster Scary?

The simulation above depicts a smooth ride through the Arctic wilderness. The coaster maintains good speed throughout with plenty of twists and turns. There are no significantly steep drops, and only one turn that banks at 90 degrees. The thrill instead comes from the fun airtime hills and the overbanked turns that really give it a bobsled vibe.

People have related the track layout to that of Manta in SeaWorld San Diego, which is much different than the one we know here in Orlando. Overall, Penguin Trek looks like a thrill that doesn’t take it too far for young kids and those that prefer a more chillaxed experience.
